Arthritis is a common condition affecting the foot and ankle. Primary arthritis is caused by the degenerative breakdown of normal cartilage that lines each joint. Traumatic arthritis is caused from a traumatic injury to a specific joint(s) causing early breakdown of the cartilage lining the joint.
